Fall into Fashion

It’s time to dust off your leather jackets, whip out those leggings, and pick up a pumpkin spiced latte – It’s officially Fall! As a Florida girl who just moved up north, I’m super excited for cooler weather, colorful leaves and most importantly the fun fashion trends that come with the season change. Check out a few of my fall favorites that will keep you looking fabulous as the weather turns chilly:

1. Suede is probably one of my favorite trends for Fall 2015. Whether it’s a burgundy coat or camel-colored mini skirt, like this one from H&M for only $38, this material has the ability to make any outfit instantly more fashionable. Pair the skirt with this striped crop top, $22, from Topshop and black leather jacket, $53.26, from BooHoo. Strappy black wedge sandals, like these from Nordstrom from$80.37, look good with almost every outfit. Want more suede? Complete this look with a suede black bucket bag, $60.85, from H&M.

2. Need an outfit for your casual Fall Friday at the office? Grab a pair of dark skinny jeans out of your closet (my favorite pair is are Levi’s) and throw on a maroon top, like this one from Zara for $15.90. Dress it up a bit – and stay warm – by layering a dark brown blazer over it. Keep accessories simple with brown leather booties, $140, from Topshop and a cream tote, $49, from Lulu’s.

3. One of the best things hands-down about colder weather is finally being able to wear leggings and oversized sweaters again! These shiny leggings, $60, from River Island are one of my favorite pairs (which is a very hard thing to say considering how many pairs I have). Wear them with a simple roll neck white sweater, $49, from My Mum Made It, grey leather booties, $119, from Charles & Keith, and a multi-toned silk scarf, $114.12, from The Dressing Room.

My Big Move

my big move

Three months ago I made one of the biggest decisions of my twenty-something-year-old life: to take a job in NYC and move over a thousand miles away from my family and friends. One week ago I made my big move from Orlando, FL to Hoboken, NJ.

After doing tons of research on apartments and different neighborhoods (and after living in upper Manhattan last year for a 4-month internship), I realized living right outside of the city was definitely the better option for me. I love that I still get to experience the hustle and bustle of city-life while working in mid-town and exploring on weekends, but I love the energy Hoboken gives off even more. This little city just buzzes with life – restaurants and bars (and other like-minded twenty-something’s) line the city’s main stretch, Washington Street. Wander down other streets and you’ll find mom-and-pop Italian joints, cute coffee shops and an array of florists mixed in with beautiful brownstones. Even with how lively this area can be, it somehow hasn’t lost it’s quaint (and somewhat suburban) old-world charm.

I’m excited to have all of you on this journey with me, and I can’t wait to share all my experiences – both in and out of the city – with you!

Wearing White After Labor Day

white after labor day

The “no white after labor day rule” is – thankfully – becoming a thing of the past. Although I probably won’t be wearing head-to-toe white for a while, there is a way to incorporate this color into your wardrobe without looking like you’re on a beach vacation. So if you’re like me and you love white too much not to wear it year round, here are three season-friendly outfits:

1. White jeans, like these from TopShop for $65, never go out of season or style. Pair them with a grey Knit Jumper top from H&M, $24.99, and grey Lane Bryant Ankle Boots, $59.95. Keep the accessories simple and chic by adding a Grey Owl Print Scarf, $19.67, from

2. A white blazer is a staple in my work wardrobe (and it should be in yours too!). This white Long Sleeve Slim-Cut Blazer, $38.99, from Choies looks awesome with a simple grey Ruffle Wrap Cami, $11.99. I wear this look with Destroyed Boyfriend Jeans, $38, from Nordstrom, but white trousers will dress this outfit up a bit. Accentuate with white and silver dangle earrings, $46.99, from Bling Jewelry, Skinny Strap SlingBacks, $25.79, from Office, and a white Vince Camuto Leather Tote, $139.48, from Lord & Taylor.

3. Little white dresses > little black dresses. This White Textured Bodycon Dress, $21, from Miss Selfridge is perfect for a night out on the town. Dance the night away in these white and black Suede Heels, $30, from Lulu’s, and complete your look with a Suede Clutch, $14, from Dorothy Perkins and a white and gold watch, like this DKNY one available on Amazon for $155. Is it starting to get chilly where you live? Wear this black Fleece Peacoat, $16.99, from Burlington Coat Factory over the dress!

Sip & Savor: 4 Perfect Wine and Cheese Pairings

Anyone who knows me knows I love wine and cheese, especially when the two are combined. Whether I’m eating in or going out to dinner, a cheese plate (and a glass of wine, obviously) is my go-to appetizer. But choosing how to pair the two isn’t always a simple task. That’s why I’m here to help! I created an easy guide containing four of my favorite wines and the perfect cheeses to pair them with. Use this at your next girl’s night in – and sip and savor away!

wine and cheese blog

Chardonnay (aka my favorite type of wine) goes great with a creamy, soft cheese. I suggest aged goat cheeses, like Chablis Herb by Laura Chenel’s Chèvre. Not a Chardonnay fan? Try pairing it with a Sauvignon Blanc instead. The acidity of Sauvignon Blanc matches the acidity in the cheese, which makes for a very refreshing combination.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The fruity flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon compliment the sharpness (and sometimes bitterness) that cheddar cheese has to offer. I prefer mild cheddar cheese, like Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Mild Wheel, but an aged cheddar can step up this common cheese a notch. Impress your meat lovers by adding salami (the saltier, the better!) to your platter.

Pinot Gris
This light-bodied white wine is best paired with Gruyere, which is a nutty, fruity cow’s milk cheese. You can also use this cheese for a classic Swiss fondue! Try it with my favorite, Gruyere Grand Cru Surchoix Cheese.

Merlot – which contains chocolate, black cherry and plum notes – is typically considered a safe choice when it comes red wines because of its smoothness. Merlot goes well with Gouda (aka one of the best cheeses EVER) because the taste of the cheese does not change when paired with this wine. This means you can fully appreciate this cheese and all of its creamy, sweet goodness.
